Why we built this

My Career Crusader started from a simple observation: the people most affected by AI-driven change in the workplace were also the least well-served by the information available to them. The public conversation was dominated by either breathless optimism from technology companies or apocalyptic warnings from commentators with no stake in the outcome. Neither was useful to someone trying to figure out what to do on Monday morning.

The professionals we spoke to — across finance, healthcare, law, education, engineering, and the creative industries — were not asking abstract questions about the future of work. They were asking specific, practical questions: Is my role at risk? Which parts of what I do are most exposed? What should I actually do about it? What skills should I build, and in what order? These are answerable questions, and we built My Career Crusader to answer them.

The AI Exposure Audit is the core of what we do. It is a task-level assessment — not a job-title-level one — because job titles are a terrible unit of analysis for understanding automation risk. Two people with the same job title can have completely different exposure profiles depending on how they actually spend their time. The audit forces that specificity, and the results are consistently more useful than anything a generic assessment can produce.

We are not affiliated with any AI company, technology vendor, or employer. We have no financial interest in making you more or less worried about AI than the evidence warrants. Our only interest is in giving you the clearest possible picture of your situation and the most useful possible guidance for what to do about it.

How we think about career resilience

Career resilience in the AI era is not about learning to code, completing a certification, or pivoting to a new field. For most professionals, it is about three things: understanding your current exposure clearly, investing in the capabilities that hold their value as AI capabilities expand, and positioning yourself toward the parts of your work that are becoming more valuable rather than less.

Task-level thinking

Job titles obscure more than they reveal. The right unit of analysis is the task — the specific things you actually do in a given week. Some tasks within almost every role are highly exposed to automation. Others are deeply durable. Understanding which is which in your specific situation is the foundation of everything else.

Evidence over anxiety

The research on AI and employment is extensive, nuanced, and frequently misrepresented. We read it carefully and try to represent it accurately — including the parts that are genuinely uncertain. We would rather give you a calibrated picture of a complex situation than a simple story that turns out to be wrong.

Action over analysis

Understanding your situation is necessary but not sufficient. The goal of every tool and piece of content we produce is to give you something concrete to do — a specific next step, a skill to build, a conversation to have, a decision to make. Analysis that does not lead to action is just anxiety with extra steps.

Long-term over short-term

The professionals who navigate technological transitions best are those who think in years, not months. The decisions that matter most — which skills to build, which relationships to invest in, which parts of your work to develop — compound over time. We try to help you make those decisions well, not just react to the news cycle.

What we stand for

Honesty

We tell you what the data and evidence actually say about AI and work — including the parts that are uncertain, contested, or uncomfortable. We do not exaggerate risk to generate anxiety, and we do not minimise it to avoid difficult conversations.

Practicality

Every piece of guidance we offer is designed to be acted on, not just read and forgotten. If we cannot tell you what to do with an insight, we question whether it is worth sharing.

Independence

We are not affiliated with any AI company, technology vendor, training provider, or employer. Our guidance is not shaped by commercial relationships. We have no interest in making you buy something or fear something beyond what the evidence warrants.

Human-centred

Technology changes. Human skills, relationships, judgment, and accountability remain the foundation of durable careers. We believe the goal is not to compete with AI but to understand clearly what it can and cannot do — and to invest accordingly.
